Last updated: May 18, 2026. Ed Recovery is a macOS file recovery app. Recovery work happens on your Mac; we only receive data when it is needed for purchases, license activation, anonymous diagnostics, or feedback you choose to submit.
Manual feedback uploads
If you submit feedback from the app, the feedback package can include your description, optional contact email, optional image attachments, App logs, `feedback.json`, and `scan_report.json`.
Logs and scan reports may include file names, paths shown by the app, disk or volume names, candidate sizes, recovery status, `xid/oid/offset/size` identifiers, App version, macOS version, hardware model, and error text.
What feedback does not include
Feedback packages are not intended to include disk passwords, recovery keys, recovered file contents, full disk images, or raw source-disk data. Do not attach screenshots or descriptions that contain secrets.
If upload fails, the app keeps the feedback package locally so you can inspect it or send it another way.
Anonymous diagnostics
If enabled, anonymous crash reports and diagnostic events may send a random installation identifier or its hash, consent status, App/build version, macOS version, hardware model, locale, and error metadata.
This does not upload full feedback log archives, directory trees, recovered files, or file contents. You can turn anonymous diagnostics off in the app settings.
Purchases and licensing
Purchases may process your email, selected plan, payment status, payment provider identifiers, license key, device identifier, device name, activation count, and App version.
Card details are handled by the payment provider and are not stored by the Ed Recovery app.
Retention and deletion
Feedback packages and diagnostic indexes are retained only as long as needed for support, debugging, product improvement, security, and legal obligations. To request deletion of a feedback package or support record, contact us through the support email shown in your purchase or download email and include the feedback ID if you have one.
Plain-language summary
Manual feedback can include app logs, scan reports, your description, optional contact email, and optional screenshots. Logs and reports may include file names, paths, disk names, candidate sizes, recovery status, and error text. They are not intended to include disk passwords, recovery keys, or recovered file contents.
Anonymous diagnostics are used only for crash and error analysis and can be turned off in the app settings. Purchases and licensing process only the information needed for payment, license activation, and support.
